Processes

ETF Coating

The COATING process consists in coating the individual yarn strands with specific water-based chemical substances to improve their characteristics. We carefully test and select the raw materials and chemicals for our products and are constantly looking for new coating technologies, in order to offer tailor-made solutions to our customers. The following coatings are currently available:

ETF ABRASION-RESISTANT COATING
ETF WATER-REPELLENT COATING
ETF WATER-BLOCKING COATING
ETF COLOR COATING
ETF MARINE FINISH COATING
ETF SUPER WATER-RESISTANT COATING

ETF Precision Winding

Our precision winding technology enables us to offer a wide range of bobbins in order to optimise the processing of the yarn.

ETF Winding

After processing, before they can be delivered the yarns must be transferred onto appropriate bobbins (cardboard or plastic tubes). Each bobbin is made according to the requests of the customer (e.g. weight, meters, packaging, support). During the winding process, a further quality control is carried out by means of optical sensors and tensiometers. In order to guarantee product traceability, each bobbin is labelled individually.

ETF Twisting

Twisting is a process that increases the strength and resistance of the yarn through the torsion of the fibres, also providing greater stability of the filaments, an essential characteristic to make the material more workable. Two, three or more strands can be twisted together to form a twisted yarn with a higher count. Our state-of-the-art machines - Roblon, Twist Technology and the Galan PRX unit -, allow twisting of different fibres (high tenacity polyester, nylon 66 and 6, polypropylene, HMPE - UHMWPE, aramid and natural fibres) with a high number of torsions, therefore ensuring high product quality levels. After being twisted, the yarn is transferred onto cardboard (or plastic) tubes of different sizes according to customer's needs. During the winding process, there is a further visual quality check of the yarn, in order to avoid subsequent defects on the finished product.

ETF Double Twisting

In the cabling process, several already twisted yarns (also see "twisting") are plied again and twisted together in the opposite direction to the one of the first twisting process. The product created during this process, called cable yarn or hawser, is made according to the requests of the customer and can therefore have different final twisting levels and counts.

ETF Two-for-one Twisting

This twisting technology works particularly well for low decitex yarns and high tpm products, and for high-volume orders.

ETF Plying and Intermingling

Plying is a process consisting of putting together several strands of yarn to get a higher count. In order to make the product denser and more stable, the yarn is intermingled. The intermingling process takes place with the support of an air jet that opens and closes the fibre. The processing parameters are adjustable. By changing the air pressure level and the winding speed, it is possible to set the number of intermingling points necessary to achieve the desired result.
